Generex Biotechnology Corporation (OTCMKTS:GNBT) Plans To Use Computational Tools Of EpiVax To Develop Peptide Vaccines Against nCOV-2019 Coronavirus

Published

on

Generex Biotechnology Corporation (OTCMKTS:GNBT) entered a pact to utilize the computational tools of EpiVax to develop a Peptide vaccine against nCOV-2019 coronavirus. EpiVax has got expertise in immune modulation, epitope prediction, and dehumanized vaccine development. The company detected several hotspots in amino acid sequences of the deadly coronavirus proteins.

NGIO Li-key Technology

Generex would use its patented NGIO (NuGenerex Immuno-Oncology) Ii-Key technology together with the computational tools of EpiVax to produce peptide vaccines. The synthetic amino acid peptides resemble the epitopes of the coronavirus. Generex will send these innovative vaccines to China for testing on the patients recovered from coronavirus.

Researchers in China to test peptides on blood samples

The researchers in China will test the efficacy of these peptides in blood samples collected from the patients, who recovered from the coronavirus. Blood samples, which are collected from the recovered coronavirus patients, usually comprise antibodies and immune cells, which recognize the nucleic acids, proteins, and peptides that represent the virus’s antigenic epitopes.

EpiVax algorithms will help to predict the sequences when blood samples are blended with synthetic peptides. It helps to develop vaccine peptides. The researchers will test a series of peptides on the blood collected from the coronavirus recovered patients to develop a commercially viable vaccine. Generex would then conduct the clinical trials on humans and introduce them in the market if the outcome is positive.

CSO of NGIO, Dr. Eric von Hofe, said EpiVax and NuGenerex Immuno-Oncology are at the forefront of peptide immunotherapy. He expects to develop an effective vaccine to contain COVID-19 by combining the efforts of teams at both the companies.

Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Executive Officer of EpiVax, Dr. Anne De Groot, is optimistic about developing an effective vaccine and bringing to the clinic. The teams are ready to contribute their 20 years of experience to develop a vaccine and stop the spread of the deadly virus across the globe.

Chief Executive Officer and founder of Sequella, Carol Nacy, has initiated the collaboration with EpiVax. She is also a member of the NGIO board. It shows the strong determination and extraordinary collaboration to prevent the threat posed by COVID-19. She further said the capability of EpiVax to rapidly detect the peptides from the virus using the proven platform of NuGenerex for amalgamation with immunogenetic peptides and develop a solution to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
